A total of 15 people were treated by emergency services in the fire, including seven firefighters.
Nine of them, including five firefighters, were then taken to a hospital - but none of them were in life-threatening danger.
In addition, a special unit is in use that would otherwise only be used in operations such as forest fires in Spain two years ago.
Parts of a building were thrown several meters away after a major fire in Valencia
A block of flats with 138 apartments that was built in the early 2000s was affected.
According to authorities, the flames spread to the building in just half an hour.
According to the emergency director, the fire caused parts of the building to be thrown several meters away.
As the Spanish newspaper
El Mundo
reports, the building is in “risk of collapse,” according to police.
The fire broke out around half past four in the morning and is said to have spread to the 14th floor and another neighboring building in a very short time.
The emergency services had been trying to put out the fire since the early hours of the morning.
There were no more flames in the area around four hours after the outbreak.
However, firefighters would still have to cool down the building in order to search for possible victims inside the building.
All people affected by the fire who have requested accommodation are already being accommodated in hotels in the city.
