Specialists from the State Criminal Police Office determined that the fire was started in several places in the hypermarket on the ground floor using an accelerant. The arrest warrant against Gökhan K, “Süpermarket” owner from Markt Schwaben, does not stop at serious arson.

The charge is attempted murder.

- Particularly serious arson - and attempted murder: These allegations are in the arrest warrant against Gökhan K., the owner of the burned-out "supermarket" in Markt Schwaben, which the responsible judge had put into effect on Shrove Tuesday, February 13th.

The responsible authorities, the Munich II public prosecutor's office and the police headquarters in Ingolstadt, announced this in a joint press release on Friday.

exclusively reported a few days ago, Gökhan K., now 36, has been in custody since then because he is said to have incited an accomplice, a 35-year-old Iranian national, to set fire to the shop on the Schwabener Marktplatz around two years ago to stick.

The authorities now say it is a former employee.

They apparently base the murder charge on the fact that there were five people in the building when the fire broke out - an arrest warrant was also issued against the suspected arsonist for attempted murder and particularly serious arson.

Specialists from the State Criminal Police Office determined that the fire was started in several places in the hypermarket on the ground floor using an accelerant.

“The residents of the upper floors remained uninjured due to the quick and professional intervention of the alerted fire brigade,” said the investigators.

After more than two years of investigative work, the way now seems clear for the case to be dealt with in court.

Until then, the two detainees are presumed innocent.
