Netanyahu-Blinken meeting/L.A.M
US Secretary of State Lincoln said this evening (Friday) at a press conference in Argentina: "We are disappointed by the Israeli government's announcement of its intention to approve the construction of thousands of new housing units in the settlements.
The US believes that the settlements are not in line with international law and are not useful for achieving peace - they only weaken Israel's security and not strengthen it."
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

why is it important
Blinken's words that the settlements are inconsistent with international law constitute a policy change on the part of the Biden administration from the one pursued by the Trump administration.
Blinken's words are a return to the policy followed by the US since 1978 until Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's decision in November 2019 that construction in settlements does not necessarily constitute a violation of international law.
