The first bushes in the region are sprouting.
If you want to trim your hedge, you should do so before March 1st.
Because from then on a ban applies.
Region – Rising temperatures and longer days are causing the first bushes to sprout in the region.
Garden owners use hedge trimmers to cut back bushes and trees.
The State Association for Bird and Nature Conservation (LBV) reminds in a press release that the legislature prohibits radical hedge trimming between March 1st and September 30th to protect nature.
According to the LBV, only shape and care cuts may be carried out during this period.
Breeding birds and other animals can be disturbed by hedge trimming
Songbirds nest and breed in hedges and bushes.
They are an important habitat for hedgehogs, shrews and the like.
To protect various animal species, the LBV recommends that all pruning work be completed by February 28th, before the breeding season begins in March.
