Once again, CMA CGM is shaken by the troughs of maritime transport, its historic activity.
Its core business accounted for almost half of its turnover in 2023. The French container transport giant, which has become a heavyweight in logistics and a young media player, saw its operating profit plummet, from $33.3 billion in 2022 to $9 billion last year.
Its net profit also plunged, going from 25 billion dollars to 3.64 billion in 2023. The volumes transported by the group were stable compared to the previous year (up 0.5%) but with large disparities between the first and second half of the year, as well as between the main transport routes.
The turnover of the maritime transport giant has also halved in one year.
