After spending years turning off our phones upon takeoff and using them in airplane mode during the flight, airlines are now offering us Wi-Fi on board.
Among these companies, Swiss recently announced that it “
plans to gradually equip its entire short-haul fleet with a high-speed internet connection
”, starting in winter 2024/2025.

The former ban becomes a commercial argument.

We are aware that it is important for our passengers to be connected, both privately and professionally, even on the move
,” explains Heike Birlenbach, Chief Commercial Officer at Swiss.

If the company will soon offer Wi-Fi on short flights, as on long-haul flights, this access will not be unlimited.
What is free is using the internet to consult chat services and messaging services such as WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger.
