Cultural manager Andreas Kutter recently presented encouraging figures in the meeting room of the town hall.
Last year, a total of 6,086 visitors came to the 15 river festival events.
Wolfratshausen - Before the Committee for Culture, Youth, Sport and Social Affairs, Kutter provided further convincing arguments for a new edition of the series of events that has been taking place every two years since 2013.
Supported by the city's event manager Katharina Roßkopf and a large team of volunteers, he took over sole management for the first time.
Wolfratshausen River Festival “Thanks to many sponsors, the deficit remained manageable”
“Thanks to the sunny weather, things went really well,” said Kutter with satisfaction.
Due to the financial support of a large number of sponsors, the deficit remained manageable.
The crowd pullers were the band Dreiviertelblut and the Tegernsee songwriter Oimara, who attracted 579 and 523 spectators to the Loisachufer due to additional standing room tickets sold.
The grandstand under the style-defining Opera Tent offered 435 seats.
The bottom line is that the costs for setting up and dismantling the venue amounted to just under 149,000 euros.
This roughly corresponds to the amount from 2019. In the Corona year 2021, the Opera Tent was dispensed with, so that the costs were reduced to around 120,500 euros.
The 2023 billing also includes personnel expenses amounting to 23,821 euros, 18,397 euros in marketing costs and around 100,000 euros for artist fees.
After deducting all income, which amounted to 175,689 euros, there was a deficit of around 115,000 euros.
Wolfratshausen River Festival: Praise for Kutter’s “very hands-on style”
“The river festival is an absolute highlight with a unique selling point,” stated the cultural manager with satisfaction.
Third Mayor Annette Heinloth (Greens), who chaired the meeting on behalf of Mayor Klaus Heilinglechner, praised Kutter for his “very hands-on manner”.
Group colleague Peter Lobenstein regretted that he had missed the river festival due to his vacation.
“The Opera Tent in particular has become a brand for Wolfratshausen,” he noted.
Cultural advisor Sepp Schwarzenbach (CSU) was equally sympathetic.
Manfred Menke (SPD) and Manfred Fleischer (Wolfratshauser List).
“Chapeau, keep it up,” Fleischer raised his thumb.
Patrick Lechner (FDP) saw it the same way, but asked about the efficiency of the individual marketing measures.
“It’s very difficult to determine because we have many different strategies,” admitted Kutter.

River festival “must be worth the money to us”
In addition to advertising in print and online media, he also provided press material with background stories on the performing artists.
Helmuth Holzheu (Citizens' Association) didn't want to raise the question of costs anyway.
“It has to be worth the money for us to put on a great festival,” he said.
The culture committee then unanimously commissioned the mayor to plan the next river festival in 2025. This requires budget funds of 250,000 euros.
