Monika E. Schweiger is happy: her Kika preschool series “Stark mit Fidi” has been nominated for this year’s “Prix Jeunesse International” television award.

The producer, author and director also shot some episodes in the Erding district, including in Dorfen, where she lives.

Dorfen/Munich – The focus of the children's series “Strong with Fidi” is the bat doll “Fidi”.

The preschool series addresses conflict situations from everyday families and offers solutions.

In the nominated episode “Luca Doesn’t Want to Play Alone,” Luca is sad because his older sister doesn’t want him there.

The series was filmed with real families.

The Dorfen filmmaker Monika E. Schweiger paints an authentic picture of the conflicts that can arise in families with three to six year old children.

The 40-year-old beams: “We went online with all the episodes on January 19th and were immediately very well received.” The first episode “Karolina doesn’t want to brush her teeth” with Karolina Jondral (6) and her mom from Schwindegg is extraordinary arrived safely.

“The rates show that,” says Schweiger.

Episode 5, “Luca doesn’t want to set the table,” with Luca Bubel (6) and her parents Esther Bubel and Thomas Schulz from Dorfen also achieved noticeably good ratings.

“The families who took part in the series actively supported us in disseminating the information about the start of the broadcast,” says the filmmaker happily.

The Falk family with Maxi (6) from Kirchberg/Schröding showed particular commitment to promote episode 2 “Maxi doesn’t want to turn off the tablet”.

“Papa Ben Falk was also seen in short behind-the-scenes interviews on the kikaninchen Instagram channel,” says Schweiger.

In addition to the episodes with Karolina and Maxi, there are also parenting films - with the educational scientist Dr.

Martina Stotz on the KiKA parent pages.

There is also an explanatory parents' film for episode 4 "Zoe is jealous" about the film with the Parapanis family (innkeeper) from Taufkirchen.

Here the background to the sibling conflict shown between Zoe (6) and her brother Neven (9) is explained in more detail.

And the parents Tamara and Thomas also had their say on the Kikaninchen Instagram channel.

As a producer, author and director, she is particularly pleased that the submitted episode 9 “Luca doesn't want to play alone” with Luca Caredda de Sousa (7) and his family from Munich as a finalist for the international children's television and film festival “Prix Jeunesse International “ was selected.

“This is a great honor because the competition was fierce.” The jury had to select the most innovative and valuable contributions from over 400 submissions from all over the world.

The festival will take place from May 24th to 29th in Munich, and Schweiger is looking forward to watching the film with Luca and his family on the big screen and discussing it with experts from all over the world.

By the way: Luca and his sister Laura (11) will soon visit Fidi the bat in the KiKA tree house, which can be seen every evening at 6:47 p.m. in KiKA, the woman from Dorfen reveals.

“Our filming with the family for 'Strong with Fidi' was great.

“One of the reasons we submitted this film to the festival was because the family’s acting performance was of a high level, considering they are not trained actors,” says Schweiger.

The entire team and the family rejoiced “when a tooth said goodbye and we were able to continue with full focus on the story.”

The director grins that no one has noticed that Luca has more and less incisors over the course of the film.
