The energy transition on the road is gaining momentum, but the journey there is like a marathon.

This can also be seen in the development of electromobility in the district.

The proportion of electric vehicles is constantly increasing - with higher growth rates in recent years;

Within four years the number has increased approximately tenfold – from 300 to almost 3,000 vehicles.

However, this type of drive still has a niche existence in Erdinger Land.

From 2035 onwards, new diesel and petrol engines will no longer be permitted in the entire European Union.

The charging infrastructure is growing rapidly.

According to data from the registration office, as of January 1, 2020, there were only 321 electric vehicles and 1,359 hybrids in the Erding district - with 53,647 gasoline and 32,971 diesel.

A year later it looked like this: 597 electric vehicles, 2,074 hybrids, 53,712 gasoline engines and 33,068 diesel engines.

At the beginning of 2022, the vehicle inventory was distributed as follows: 1,290 electric vehicles, 3,170 hybrids, 53,101 gasoline and 32,758 diesel.

And a year ago there were 2,060 electric cars, 4,503 hybrids, 53,152 gasoline and 31,810 diesel.

Overall, the number of vehicles in the district is increasing.

What is striking is that the number of gasoline engines is largely stable, but the number of diesel engines is decreasing - possibly in favor of electric drives.

According to district office spokeswoman Claudia Fiebrandt-Kirmeyer, 2,752 electric vehicles were registered at the beginning of the year this year - a good 700 were added within a year.

Drives using ethanol and hydrogen hardly play a role.

The number of gas vehicles has decreased since the beginning of the decade - from 509 in 2020 to 451 most recently.

The main drivers of the charging infrastructure are the Erding and Dorfen municipal utilities.

They operate 22 or four charging stations.

And there are more and more cars parked in front of them: Last year, 61,300 kilowatt hours (kWh) were tapped from the four Dorfen charging stations with nine connections, says commercial manager Sebastian Heiß.

For comparison: in 2019 there were only 22,700 kWh.

In the first Corona year 2020, usage even fell - to 19,300 kWh.

Since then, the amount of electricity has increased sharply: in 2021 it was 40,500 and in 2022 61,300 kWh, according to Heiß.

In Erding, the municipal utilities operate charging stations not only at the district office and in front of the district's schools, but also in Wartenberg, Langenbach and Marzling, among others, as well as in front of all Baustoffe Auer branches.

The Wartenberg market and the Erdinger VW/Audi car dealership Hans Maier have commissioned the Erdinger municipal utility with the charging infrastructure.

In recent years, 29,300 (2019), 56,800 (2020), 144,300 (2021), 308,600 (2022) and 460,700 (2023) kWh have flowed through all of them.

The offer in the thermal car park is in particularly high demand.

Nikola Schreyer from Stadtwerke therefore announces that “we will continue to expand here in the next three months”.

The most powerful charging station is currently being built at Lipp Markenvertrieb in West Park.

And a 150 kW fast charger has recently been installed in front of the Stadtwerke Am Gries, through which, according to Schreyer, over 20,000 kWh have already flowed in the first two months.

By the way, we only supply 100 percent green electricity, the suppliers emphasize.
