Next weapons delivery for Kiev: The Ukrainian armed forces are receiving Brimstone-type guided missiles from London that can fight tanks.

Kiev - Ukraine is receiving another weapon from Great Britain to help it defend itself against Russia's attacks.

Specifically, London will deliver 200 Brimstone anti-tank missiles to Kiev.

This was announced by British Defense Minister Grant Shapps in front of the House of Commons of Parliament in London, according to the Ukrainian online portal

Weapons for Ukraine: Great Britain supplies Kiev with anti-tank guided weapons

The British Ministry of Defense distributed a video on X (formerly Twitter) that is supposed to show the transport of anti-tank missiles by plane.

As a rule, the partners of the transatlantic defense alliance NATO bring such weapons transports to the Rzeszow military airport in southeastern Poland, not far from the Ukrainian border.

According to Shapps, the Brimstone has already proven effective against tanks in the Ukrainian conflict with Russia.

According to the report, the Ukrainians will receive the most modern version of the missile, the “Brimstone 2 Dual Mode”.

The Brimstone can be fired from fighter jets, attack helicopters as well as ground trucks and armored personnel carriers.

Brimstone anti-tank missile: powerful weapon against Russian troops

Regarding the technical details: The second generation Brimstone missile is said to have a range of between 40 and 60 kilometers, while the first generation guided missile can supposedly only detect targets at a distance of up to twelve kilometers.

In addition, the warhead of the second variant should be larger and therefore more powerful.

The previous warhead had a 6.5 kilogram tandem hollow charge.

The key innovation is probably the combined decorative detection of the 1.80 meter long anti-tank missile, which can fly at a speed of 1.3 Mach - around 1605 km/h.

Weapons deliveries to Ukraine: Kiev needs help against Russian attacks

Specifically: A standard radar homing head that can determine ground-based targets is supplemented by a laser homing head.

Shapps also told the British Parliament that Britain would train an additional 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers for the Ukraine war in the first half of 2024 in cooperation with the NATO defense alliance.

Ukraine can currently use all the help it can get from the West in its fight against the Russian attack due to an acute shortage of ammunition.

After the Russian army captured the front-line town of Avdiivka, Kremlin autocrat Vladimir Putin's troops launched new offensives in the northeast of the battered country towards Kharkiv and in the south near Robotyne.
