The Ardeo dealer network and the city of Erding are working together to make the city center more lively.

This year there will be four shopping Sundays again.

Erding – There will be four shopping Sundays in Erding city center again this year: March 17th, May 5th, October 20th and November 24th.

The city councilors in the administration and finance committee approved the corresponding request from the Ardeo interest group with a large majority without discussion.

Only Eva Döllel (ÖDP) was against it.

The ÖDP has always rejected shopping on Sundays as family-unfriendly for retail employees.

A novelty this year: On March 17th, Ardeo and the city are organizing a blue light day on Schrannenplatz.

Fire departments, police, paramedics and others can present themselves and advertise themselves here.

“The Bundeswehr is also there,” announced Leopold Gruber in an interview with our newspaper.

The managing director of the Gewandhaus Gruber has been the new Ardeo chairman since last autumn and is pleased: “The fire department wants to build something big.”

Three of the four Sundays open for shopping accompany a fair: in May it is the traditional Kreuzmarkt, in October the Kirchweih market and in November the Kathreinmarkt, where the Christmas market also opens.

Ardeo is planning a vintage car exhibition for the Kreuzmarkt in May, while the focus will be on customs at Kirta.

According to current law, shops are only allowed to open on a maximum of four Sundays or public holidays each year if there is an occasion.

This is provided by the markets and events, the city councilors found.

Another aspect is the revitalization of the city center, to which retail and restaurants in Erding make a significant contribution.

Although the city center is still the preferred location for retail, competition from commercial areas on the outskirts of the city and online retail is increasing.

The city is also dedicating its business reception on Monday, March 18th to this topic.

It starts at 5 p.m. in the town hall.

The focus is on the “City Center Master Plan”, which the municipality is currently having developed in order to be able to respond to challenges such as digitalization, online commerce, demographic change or changing customer and mobility behavior, as city spokesman Christian Wanninger reports.

The commissioned institute GMA will present the first analysis results that evening.

There will also be a panel discussion on “The Future of the City Center”.

Andreas Maier (head of the Sonthofen economic development agency and deputy state representative of the Federal Association of City and City Marketing Germany), Ruth Vollmar (head of economic affairs for the city of Bamberg), Leopold Gruber (chairman of the Ardeo Erding interest group) and Gino Maier (GMA project manager for the Erding project).

Interested businesses should register for the event by email to stadtmarketing@erding.de by Friday, March 1st.
