Feodor-Lynen-Gymnasium and Webasto have broken new ground together - in the form of an educational partnership.

The aim is to network schools and businesses.

Planegg/Stockdorf

– The Planegg Feodor-Lynen-Gymnasium (FLG) and the Stockdorf automotive supplier Webasto have entered into an “IHK educational partnership”.

It is the first time for both sides to have signed such an agreement.

“This is a great contact, especially for us as a business school,” says Vera Seibel, economics and law teacher at the FLG.

On Wednesday, Andrea Bodner and Sophia von Wolffersdorff, responsible for training at Webasto, showed her the company headquarters together with trainee Alix Kleine.

When Seibel came to Planegg three years ago, she discovered that the science, technology and economics high school was the reference high school for the Technical University of Munich, but had no connections to companies.

“It was important to me to create a connection to the economy,” she says.

Seibel turned to the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Munich and Upper Bavaria (IHK), which arranges educational partnerships.

The IHK approached Webasto, where Bodner and her team immediately expressed interest.

58 commercial trainees

Webasto works closely with the Gautinger Otto-von-Taube-Gymnasium and has already had contact with the FLG before, says training manager Bodner.

She is pleased that the new connection with the FLG will last indefinitely.

“Taking care of training is a certain social responsibility as the largest employer in the region,” says Bodner.

In order to get good applicants, a lot of effort has to be made.

There are currently 58 commercial trainees at the company headquarters in Stockdorf, made up of 32 dual students and 26 industrial clerk trainees.

There are a total of 191 trainees and dual students at all six German Webasto locations.

The company offers FLG students applicant training, as well as workshops on the subject of assessment centers, i.e. complex assessment procedures when searching for candidates for a position.

Lectures on career orientation, participation in career information events at school, working as an external partner in P-seminars and the opportunity to complete an internship are planned.

Workshops on topics such as “autonomous driving” or “learning to learn” are being prepared, as well as tours of the testing area and Q&A sessions with trainees and dual students, where students can ask anything, including about salary or the dress code at work .

Application training at school

The partnership started at the beginning of the school year.

In November, Webasto conducted two-hour application training sessions in the five ninth graders.

Sophia von Wolffersdorff, who has been working in the training department at Webasto for two years after completing her dual studies, also revealed what was less well received: unpunctuality, not asking questions, not showing interest.

After the Pentecost holidays, the ninth graders complete a one-week career orientation internship.

So far, no one has contacted Webasto, says von Wolffersdorff.

Those who come to Stockdorf can be sure that they will neither be able to make coffee nor just watch.

Interns are based in Building 10 with Bodner and her training team.

The junior company “Young Drive” is also located there and is responsible for the global distribution of advertising materials – from balloons to drinking bottles to wall clocks.

It is managed by the trainees.

“This purely commercial junior company has no other company,” says Bodner.

Interns support the trainees, as well as the employees in training and student management, and gain insights into departments such as project management, purchasing, marketing, testing, and development.

According to Bodner, the best prerequisites for benefiting from an internship are curiosity, openness and the willingness to get involved.
