- The serious accident that occurred on Thursday morning on the B2 near Hechendorf and in which a man (30) from the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district died and five other people were injured, some of them life-threatening and seriously, is still an issue.

It is now largely clear how the collision, which involved four cars, occurred.

According to the current state of knowledge from the Murnau police station, which is leading the investigation, a woman from the Munich district drove her Mercedes Vito towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

According to police, she crossed into the oncoming lane for unknown reasons.

There she hit a VW Tiguan with her car, which was being driven by a 57-year-old man from the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district and was traveling towards Murnau.

This caused the Tiguan to skid.

He collided with a VW Touareg that was driving towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen and driven by a 54-year-old who also comes from the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district.

After contact with the Tiguan, the woman's Vito crashed head-on into the 30-year-old's Toyota, who was on the way to Weilheim with a teenager (18).

The Vito spun and came to a stop on the road towards Murnau, the Toyota was catapulted over the guardrail.

He landed on the meadow in a ditch towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

The driver of the Toyota died at the scene of the accident.

Members of the Murnau and Hechendorf volunteer fire departments rescued him from the completely demolished small car.

The driver of the Vito was taken to the hospital in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

In the meantime, according to the police, her life is expected to be out of danger.

The passenger of the Toyota was taken to the Murnau accident clinic with serious injuries.

The driver of the Touareg as well as his passenger and the man who was driving the Tiguan were also treated in the accident clinic with moderate injuries.

All four cars were totaled.

They were towed away.

“An accident analysis report is currently being prepared on behalf of the Munich II public prosecutor’s office,” says Joachim Loy, head of the Murnau police station.
