The Alpine Republic pampers the palate with a diverse selection of sweet delicacies that will make every foodie's mouth water.

Whether in the mountain hut after a strenuous day on the ski slopes or comfortably at home on the couch - sweet sins like apple strudel, Sachertorte and curd dumplings are simply part of life.

In the rustic huts of the Alpine regions, after skiing or hiking, you can enjoy hearty home-cooked food such as Frittaten soup or a Schupfnudel pan with sauerkraut and meatloaf.

But at the crowning conclusion, a sweet treat should not be missing.

In addition to Kaiserschmarrn, fluffy yeast dumplings, the Austrian equivalent of German steamed dumplings, are also popular.

Both are made from yeast dough - but you won't find any other similarities.

Steamed dumplings are neither filled with homemade plum jam (Powidl), nor dusted with poppy seed sugar or steamed over a water bath, but rather cooked in hot milk.

At first glance, both types of preparation sound more than complicated and tend to disrupt a cozy hut fun in your own four walls.

Isn't there an easier way to enjoy delicious dumplings?
