This is a most worrying discovery for the Bouches-du-Rhône law enforcement agencies, faced with increasingly better equipped and determined thugs.
On Thursday, police officers from the North Division of Marseille found a veritable arsenal of war in an apartment in Castellane, largely undermined by drug trafficking.
According to consistent police sources, it was during a police operation carried out by the Northern Division of Marseille that police officers made this discovery, bursting into a suspicious apartment in this city in the 15th arrondissement of Marseille.
Inside, officers discovered numerous firearms, including three Kalashnikovs, two shotguns, two handguns as well as a bag containing
“a significant number”
of 7.65 mm caliber ammunition and cartridges. 9mm.
8 bulletproof vests and a police radio seized
Even more worrying, law enforcement discovered that the owners of these firearms had eight bulletproof vests, one of which likely belonged to law enforcement.
A police radio and a motocross bike were also seized during the operation.
A police source indicated to Le
Figaro
that an investigation was opened and entrusted to the Bouches-du-Rhône judicial police.
Police operations are not uncommon in Castellane, a Marseille city undermined by the influence of traffickers ready to do anything to maintain control of their territory.
Last January, police officers from the North Anti-Crime Brigade (BAC North) were violently attacked by drug traffickers while they were arresting a suspicious individual.
Two police officers were even injured by a dog released in their direction.
At the beginning of November 2023, other BAC North agents were the targets of projectiles after controlling a dealer who was in La Castellane.
One of the police officers was even forced to shoot in the air twice to scare away individuals who had tried to release the arrested person.
