For over 20 years, Dr.

Andreas Schneider's family doctor's practice on Schulstrasse in Erdweg.

He loved his patients and his patients loved him.

However, last year the doctor himself became seriously ill.

Recently, Dr.

Schneider was buried in his home town of Wiedenzhausen.

He was only 58 years old.

Erdweg/Wiedenzhausen – In 1999, Dr.

Andreas Schneider in the family practice of Dr.

Egon Mayer joined Erdweg, but from the beginning of 2003 he looked after Dr.

Mayer's age-related departure caused countless patients in the Erdweg community and made a good name for himself.

Dr. was born and raised.

Schneider in Munich and Kaltenberg.

After military service, he began studying medicine at the Ludwig Maximilians University.

Towards the end of his studies he met his wife Dr.

Monika Baumgartner-Schneider from Wiedenzhausen, herself a doctor and current head of the Dachau Health Department.

The couple married in 1997 and decided to move their center of life to Wiedenzhausen.

A little later, daughter Julia was born, who “to the great joy of my husband also studied medicine,” says Dr.

Monika Baumgartner-Schneider tells us.

Dr.

Andreas Schneider acquired a wide range of knowledge as part of his specialist training as a general practitioner.

He worked for several years in internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, ENT and in a large general practice in Munich.

He was also involved in professional politics in the Bavarian General Practitioners Association and for many years until his death on the board of the Dachau district medical association.

Dr.

Schneider not only had a lot of knowledge, but also a great feeling for his patients.

“My husband was a family doctor with heart and soul.

No distance was too far and no weather was too bad for him to care for his patients.

He often even left family celebrations to be able to help those who were seriously ill,” said Dr.

Monika Baumgartner-Schneider.

In 2017 his sister-in-law Dr.

Natalia Baumgartner joined the practice in order to be able to manage the primary care of the many patients.

A stroke of luck, as it turned out.

Because of his illness, which, according to his wife, he had accepted “with great fighting spirit and a lot of patience,” Dr.

Schneider finally handed over the practice with an established team to Dr. on January 1, 2024.

Natalia Baumgartner and Marion Esch handed over.

“When my husband handed over the doctor’s practice, he was very happy to receive so many cards with well-wishes and self-drawn pictures of his little patients as a token of appreciation,” says Dr.

Monika Baumgartner-Schneider.

There was great consternation and sympathy after his death became known and at the funeral in Wiedenzhausen.
