The whole area around Piazza dei Cavalieri, where the headquarters of the University of Pisa overlooks, is surrounded by the police. The march was made up of grassroots unions, students and the Palestinian community. The procession then returned to Piazzas Ognissanti for the final speeches.

In Florence it happened when the protesters tried to reach the American consulate.

The procession, made up of grassroots unions, students and the Palestinian community, started from Piazza Santissima Annunziata to reach, parading through the centre, Piazza Ognissanti and then continued along the Arno river towards the consulate.

A few dozen meters away there was a police barrier and when the demonstrators tried to advance, some lightening charges were fired.

The procession then returned to Piazza Ognissanti for the final speeches.

The policemen deployed to protect one of the entrances to the square charged at the students who were trying to cross the barrier.
