A recently opened U Express supermarket is regularly the victim of shoplifting by a gang of young people. The director wants to send them a message.

The manager of a U Express supermarket, open for a year in the new Courrouze district of Rennes, has found a clever method to attract the attention of thieves who rob her store.

She posted on the front door two photos of the delinquents, taken by the store's video surveillance cameras, their faces blurred, as well as a text addressed to them:

"The little gang of young people who stole from us by threatening us with a fake weapon a few months ago, and which returned on January 26 to fill its pockets

.

The objective is that they

“recognize each other, and that they know that we really have the faces, the images and that it is transmitted to the police”

, testified the director of the supermarket Clémentine Blasco on February 21 with our colleagues from

Télégramme

, whose affair was revealed by

Ouest-France

.

“They started coming, last summer, they were quite verbally aggressive.

And that's when they brought out toy weapons.

For a while, it was almost looting.

They came to steal for the sake of stealing,

sweets, chips…

, she explains.

Exasperation

The shopkeeper says she tried to chase them outside the supermarket.

“Six kids splitting up in the neighborhood, I didn’t have much of a chance… But that’s in principle

,” she laments.

She indicates that the police,

“very responsive”

, went to her store to give her a telephone number, so that she could contact them at any time.

“But these young people tend to come when there are people around, we can’t necessarily react at the checkout

,” she gets annoyed.

The message that the director wanted to send to the thieves made the culprits react.

Wednesday morning, two young people from the group suddenly addressed her:

“Madam, why did you post my photo?

Why do we see my face, there, we have to remove that

. ”

Before fleeing, one of them said:

“There’s a guy who’s going to come and snatch the photos today

. ”

“I’m going to have to call the police

,” the supermarket manager replied.
