The reigning Bavarian beer queen Mona Sommer will toast with the six favorites Selina Bank, Eva Singer, Alisa Josefine Pflug, Nina Haberl, Linnea Klee and Anna Victoria Gansneder.

After a pre-selection, two dozen of the 52 applicants remained: there are now six candidates left in the race for the popular office.

Munich – A jury selected six candidates from two dozen applicants for the position of Bavarian Beer Queen at the casting in Munich.

Four of them come from Upper Bavaria, one from Lower Bavaria and one from Upper Franconia.

The new beer sovereignty will be finally elected on May 16th, as the Bavarian Brewers Association announced on Thursday, February 22nd.

Originally, 52 beer-loving women from all Bavarian administrative districts followed the brewers' association's call “Do you want to become Bavaria's queen?”; 24 candidates were then able to prevail in a pre-selection.

Casting for the Bavarian Beer Queen – an overview of the candidates

  • Selina Bank

    (22 years): resident and born in Erding (Obb), presenter, editor, social media representative

  • Anna Victoria Gansneder

    (26 years old): lives in Munich (Obb.), born in Starnberg (Obb.), manager at the Bavarian Supply Chamber, part-time master's degree in business law, help in the family carpentry shop

  • Nina Haberl

    (21 years old): lives in the Freyung-Grafenau district (Ndb.), born in Passau (Ndb.), office management clerk in the construction industry

  • Linnea Klee

    (22 years old): lives in Jetzendorf (Obb.), born in Pfaffenhofen/Ilm (Obb.), brewer and maltster

  • Alisa Josefine Pflug

    (31 years old): lives and was born in Berchtesgaden (Obb.), area sales manager, social media representative in a brewery

  • Eva Singer

    (23 years old): Gräfenberg (Ofr.), born in Forchheim (Ofr.), educator

Not all of the young women are employed in the brewery industry.

Among them is an editor, a businesswoman in the construction industry and an educator.

Candidates are being prepared for a possible term for the sovereign beer office

According to the Brauerbund, the casting jury was made up of different areas: In addition to Ralf Barthelmes, hotelier and representative of the Bavarian Hotel and Restaurant Association DEHOGA, presenter Karin Schubert, a media representative, was also responsible for the further selection of the candidates.

Mona Sommer, reigning beer queen – number 12 in line to the throne – was also on site at the casting at the GOP Varieté Theater in Munich on Thursday.

In the next few weeks, the six remaining favorites will be trained on a study trip to the Bavarian Brewery Museum in Kulmbach and prepared for their possible reign as Bavarian Beer Queen.

In addition, the Bavarian Farmers' Association says it invites the candidates to professional media training.

Online voting from April – big beer queen finale on May 16th in Munich’s Löwenbräukeller

There will be online voting on the Bavarian Beer Queen website from April 8th.

The four candidates with the most votes will then be in the final on May 16th.

Numerous guests from politics, culture and the brewing industry are expected at the Löwenbräukeller in Munich.

According to the Braubund, the election will be decided by the jury votes and the votes of the guests in the hall, both of which are weighted equally.
