Several weather services are predicting severe storms on Friday night.
In some cases, gusts of up to 170 km/h could even occur.
Update from February 22nd, 9:45 p.m.:
There are still hurricane-force gusts in the Black Forest and the North Sea coast as well as hurricane-like gusts throughout northern Germany.
The DWD has now classified the gusts of wind on the Brocken as extreme.
The snow is expected to fall in the early hours of the morning not only in the Alps, but also in the southern Bavarian Forest.
Meanwhile, an emergency accommodation in Castrop-Rauxel had to be evacuated due to the current weather conditions.
The almost 1,000 refugees were accommodated in the nearby Europahalle, a spokesman for the Münster district government said.

The storm “Wencke” is already attracting attention in some regions with strong gusts of wind.
According to the
German Weather Service (DWD),
there are currently extreme hurricane-force gusts on the Brocken and there are also hurricane-like gusts in the Black Forest and northern Germany.
In some coastal areas, the DWD has already issued warning level 3 (severe weather warning).
In the rest of Germany, warning level 2 applies almost everywhere at the moment. There can also be squalls here.
There will also be continuous rain in the west and southwest as well as “snowfall in the Alps from the evening onwards,” according to the DWD.

“Gusts of up to 120 to 140 km/h are expected directly on the North Sea coast.” As Jung writes, according to the German weather model ICON, gusts of up to 170 km/h are possible on the North Sea, which would correspond to a severe hurricane.

Warmest February in over 140 years – spring instead of winter in March
For weather expert Dominik Jung, February was not only significantly too wet, but also too warm.
