Ludwig Horn (27) has been mayor of Tutzing for a good three weeks.

He was already familiar with the major issues that concern Tutzing from his time as a local councilor.

The most important thing: the main street.

Tutzing

- The most important project in Tutzing this year is the renovation of the main street, which is entering the very hot phase so to speak - the passage has to be completely closed for work in the town center. This will definitely be a hot summer for the people of Tutzing.

The other major project is the renovation of the middle school, which is ongoing.

The new mayor can hardly set new accents because there is not enough money for that.

The budget has not yet been passed.

Horn suggests that the community will have to take out new loans to cover everything.

Main road

The next and final construction phase is the renovation of the town thoroughfare this year.

It's the hardest part because the town center is affected.

The main road will probably be closed in sections in the second half of May, probably not until the beginning of June, until November.

The state building authority is taking care of the renovation of the road, and the municipality is taking care of the water pipes, which will also be replaced as part of the renovation.

Mayor Horn expects costs of around one million euros for the water pipes and around two million euros for the municipality's share of the road construction costs, i.e. for sidewalks and junctions.

“The main street is one of the most expensive projects in Tutzing,” he states.

And more expensive than planned, “because of the skyrocketing civil engineering prices”.

The main road is scheduled to be completed this year.

Horn hopes that the people of Tutzingen and the customers from the surrounding area will continue to be loyal to the trade on the main street despite the complete closure.

“Business is also a piece of cultural structure,” he says, assuring that every business remains accessible despite the lockdown.

It is still unclear whether there will be celebrations on the construction site again.

Horn welcomes suggestions from clubs and organizers.

May Day celebration

Because it is now clear that work on the main street will not begin until mid-May at the earliest, and rather later, the people of Tutzingen can put up their new maypole next to the town hall in peace and quiet.

The members of the Tutzinger Guild and the fire department are looking forward to many visitors celebrating with them on Wednesday, May 1st.

Middle school

The renovation of the middle school has been noticed in recent days due to the pedestrian bridge.

It is intended to ensure a safe route to school when demolition work takes place soon to make space for the new cafeteria.

“By the end of the year you will be able to see what the school will look like from the outside,” hopes Horn.

The majority of the building has already been gutted and most of the old materials will continue to be used.

In the next few months, the community will have to decide how the middle school will be heated in the future.

Until now, gas has been the basis for heating; a renewable fuel would be desirable, says Horn.

Many forms are possible in middle school.

The local council will also deal with the interior design of the school.

However, especially with plans for this, the actual work is not expected to take place until 2025.

Overall, the work went according to plan, says Horn.

Energy production

The open-air photovoltaic system that the “Tutzing climate neutral 2035” initiative is planning on the B 2 near Kerschlach will be continued this year.

Among other things, it will be about what citizen participation can look like.

In addition, according to Horn, legal hurdles must be overcome for the project.

And also technical: “The distances from the planned solar field to the connection points are long.”

Horn is not yet sure whether the use of lake heat will go one step further this year.

Basically, he likes the idea of using the lake's heat reservoir.

But he likes the idea of a local heating network that doesn't necessarily have to be powered by lake heat even more.

Nothing is concrete yet, he emphasizes.

ISEK

The ISEK integrated urban development concept will keep the Tutzinger busy this year.

The aim is to collect basic information, data and critical points in the municipality and in the districts by November, which can be incorporated into the ISEK.

This data will be used to create a catalog of actions for urban development and other improvements in Tutzing, which will be valid for a long time - the ISEK is the basis for funds from the Free State's urban development funding.

“We want to set up boards in certain places where citizens can share their ideas online using a QR code,” announces Horn.

Ideas can also be communicated analogously.

Because of the ISEK, the town hall also wants to approach the clubs, groups and churches and ask for their participation.

A bike tour is also planned.

“We want to do a lot of advertising so that we can collect as many topics as possible,” says the mayor.

Road renovations

Not only the main street is in need of renovation, but also many of the community streets.

The town hall would like to find out in which order and to what extent the renovation should be carried out by examining an office that scans all the streets with a camera.

Horn expects results from this expertise over the course of the year, but makes it clear that there is not much money left for this area.

“We will put 200,000 euros into the budget for the roads, plus something for special expenses.” Larger projects, such as the renovation of the underpass on Heinrich-Vogl-Straße, would have to wait.

“We can’t afford that this year.”

Cellular

Horn confirms that the community will take legal action against Vodafone's planned cell phone mast in the forest near Monathausen.

“The lawsuit is currently being prepared.” He sees good opportunities for Tutzing.

refugees

Tutzing is expected to take in 100 to 120 refugees over the course of the year.

The community does not yet know when the accommodation will be built on the monastery meadow.

“Our last information from the district office is that the last cost approval from the state government is still pending,” says Horn.

“After that there is a precise schedule.” He is in contact with the group of helpers so that the newcomers can be well received and looked after.
