On video: Suspects record themselves setting fire to a car in Sakhnin/Walla system!
A young man, a resident of Sakhnin, who was suspected of setting fire to a car, left behind a cell phone in his escape where his friend recorded him committing the crime.
The suspect was arrested by Mashgav station police officers, and yesterday (Thursday) the Haifa District Attorney's Office submitted a prosecutor's statement that it intends to file an indictment against him early next week.
Inspector Adi Ohana, head of the investigations office at the Mashgav police station, said that on the night of January 25, at 2:40 a.m., a car was set on fire in the yard of a house in the city of Sakhnin.
The owner of the vehicle noticed the fire, came out of his house and saw two suspects fleeing in the drive.
He chased after the suspects, when at a certain point they got out of their vehicle, left it running and fled the scene.
The arson victim called the police and waited near the suspects' abandoned vehicle.

Not only did the two fugitives leave their car running, they also left evidence inside: there was a cell phone in which the car had been set on fire a short time before, as well as gloves with traces of a flammable substance on them that also carried DNA traces of the suspect in the arson. The vehicle in which they arrived at the scene of the crime and where they escaped belongs to the sister of one of them. The police arrived at the homes of the suspects - 22-year-old Udai Zebidat, and another 17-year-old boy who was with him and who was responsible for documenting the arson.
In the coming days, the Haifa District Attorney's Office will file an indictment against Udai Zebidat in the Haifa District Court for arson vehicle and conspiracy to commit a crime. He himself is known to the police from criminal incidents in the past. By the way, since the incident, the arson victim himself has already been investigated on suspicion of shooting at a house in Sakhnin. This is a small episode of an ongoing and violent conflict between two groups of criminals in the city.
