Private spaces, where you can find yourself away from prying eyes to enjoy a few moments of intimacy.
In Padua, the first in Italy, special 'rooms' will be created in the Due Palazzi prison in which inmates will be able to strengthen their emotional and sexual bonds with their partners.
The experimentation should start immediately with the creation of small mobile prefabs, essentially containers, in a green area of the prison courtyard.
"We have been waiting for this revolution for 25 years - comments Ornella Favero, director of Ristretti Orizzonti - and it seems to have finally arrived".
Even the director of the facility, in a meeting a few days ago, said he was in favor of the project.
The turning point was marked by sentence number 10 of 2024 of the Constitutional Court which established the illegitimacy of the ban on intimate conversations between prisoners and family members.
In addition to the 'love rooms', at Due Palazzi in Padua the possibility of expanding the telephone calls available to prisoners is also being taken into consideration.
Ostellari: 'There is no authorization for the love rooms'
"There is no specific authorization regarding the Due Palazzi Prison in Padua or any other institution in Italy regarding the so-called love rooms".
This was stated by the Undersecretary of Justice, Andrea Ostellari.
"Following the ruling on the matter by the Council - he specifies - a working group will be set up to investigate the issue further. Any possible initiative will be undertaken by the Department for Penitentiary Administration, which will coordinate, after a survey of the structures, all the prison administrations and, individual penitentiaries have fallen. Prisons need seriousness, not propaganda."
