caught my attention by dressing the Professor in a one-button tweed jacket.

I noticed that Jacobs had done the same.
In reality, apart from the tuxedo, this type of model is very rare.
The overwhelming majority of jackets have two buttons at the front, with three-button and double-breasted variants being even less common.
For those who don't know, the two-button jacket only closes on the top button, placed in the center of the waist.
By convention, the bottom button is never used.
Firstly, for a question of aesthetics because fully buttoned it looks clumsy, a little awkward, clumsy like Bourvil.
Then for the sake of comfort, the hips are not restricted in their movement.
In a way, then, all two-button jackets are one-button jackets that are overlooked.
Why not remove that bottom button then?
