Herbal pharmacy, railway exhibition and poachers' camp: There are many historical program items on the big weekend celebrating the 1275th anniversary of the Walpertskirchen community, which were now presented at an information event.

The festival committee is still looking for supporters.

Walpertskirchen - A village in the middle of extensive festival preparations: Walpertskirchen is planning a big festival weekend with historical village life on July 13th and 14th to mark the community's 1275th anniversary.

This weekend the place will be transformed into a scene from Kini's times around 1850. At the very well-attended information event in the multi-purpose room of the elementary school, the members of the festival committee explained what they were up to and where support was still needed.

As Georg Glockshuber from the festival committee management explained, they wanted to build several large stages in the area.

Six music groups are supposed to create a great atmosphere.

Craftsmanship using ancient techniques will be presented at various stations.

There are already some commitments, including blacksmithing and bricklaying.

Holzhackerbuam would also pay their respects.

Committee member Martin Stangl said they would like to depict threshing, seaweed spinning, a broom-making workshop as well as the historical activities of a wheelwright, a rake maker, a saw filer and a shepherd.

A herbal pharmacy, a rope factory, scythe-making, butter stirring, cabbage cutting, the work of a tanner, a tailor and a midwife will also be presented.

The gravedigger and the so-called “Doudwei”, who announced when someone died, should also be depicted.

There is a lot on offer for families, says Stangl.

For example, a poachers' camp would be set up, the washerwomen would come together at the village pond, and culinary delights would be served at various stands.

Some playgrounds are available for younger guests.

There will be a petting zoo, a farm garden, an exhibition on railways and firefighting as well as historical performances by the fire department.

The music groups would also wander around the village and play there.

Songs and dances, performances by the Walpertskirchen choir and the orchestra are planned.

The theater club will set its scenes in the prison and the gendarmerie.

They are still looking for old fabrics, costumes and people who like tailoring.

The festival committee is open to further ideas and design suggestions and would be happy to receive any support.

Helpers are also being sought for assembly and dismantling.

The stations during Kini's time are intended to reflect the historical circumstances of yesteryear.

That's why no marquee will be set up; sun protection will be provided elsewhere.

The contributions to the discussion discussed, among other things, the fact that participants' insurance coverage is regulated by the municipality.

A concept is currently being developed for the parking spaces.

The money raised will partly go to the clubs and partly be donated.

If there is a deficit, the municipality will step in, informed Mayor Franz Hörmann, who warmly thanked the festival committee and everyone responsible for their dedicated work.
