A 35-year-old homeless man, arrested by the gendarmes, admitted to having killed the man who hosted him in Bruyères (Vosges), the Epinal public prosecutor, Frédéric Nahon, said on Friday.
The
“murder”
took place on Wednesday at the home of the victim, aged 61, in Bruyères, a town of around 4,000 inhabitants east of Epinal, Frédéric Nahon told AFP.
The thirty-year-old implicated, a
“homeless person (...) was hosted”
by the sixty-year-old, indicated the magistrate.
Murder by strangulation
According to the Vosges Matin daily, he had been hosted
“for a few weeks”
.
“Alcoholic at the time of the events, (he) admitted to having killed the victim by strangulation”
but
“did not give an explanation for the act”
, indicated Frédéric Nahon.
According to the magistrate, the homeless man had
“asked the neighbors to call the gendarmes, who discovered the body”
before arresting him.
He must be presented to an investigating judge on Friday.
The prosecution requested his placement in pre-trial detention, according to the prosecutor.
