Meta has updated WhatsApp with new text formatting options, allowing Android and iOS users to further personalize their messages.
You can write numbered or bulleted lists, text quotes or inline codes, i.e. those commonly used by programmers, in addition to the options already present for writing in italics, bold or strikethrough.
Writing these new modes works in the same way as many word processing software, such as Microsoft Word or Google Docs.
Like these, bulleted lists can be created by using a hyphen and then pressing a space, while numbered lists can be created by typing a number and then pressing a space.
Quotation marks are created by using the right arrow symbol (>) and pressing space.
To create inline code, you will need to precede the string with the accent symbol (`) before and after the selected text.
Last month, WhatsApp introduced a custom sticker maker for iPhone users running iOS 17 or later.
In a future update, Meta also plans to add support for passkeys, so you can log in to the app with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device's passcode.
