Highlights: “A few days ago everything was white’: Surprising weather change – meteorologist corrects March trend. “This month could land 0.5 to one degree above the climate average for the years 1991 to 2020,” explained Dominik Jung from wetter.net. The weather in Austria is different. Experts there recently warned of a “fat load” of fresh snow. The third month of the year is expected to be milder than usual. A cool March is not in sight.

February in Germany was mild.

Will winter make another comeback in March?

Expert Dominik Jung takes a look at the weather.

Munich – February is characterized by a mix of weather.

With rays of sunshine and mild temperatures, the first feelings of spring appeared at times.

Hurricane Wencke brought severe storms and precipitation to Germany.

Winter seems to be receding far away.

A “late winter break” is not to be expected, as meteorologist Dominik Jung from

emphasized.

He also pointed to a changing trend in March.

Recently, various models provided forecasts of what the weather would be like in spring.

March at a glance – winter weather apparently not in sight

Whether south, north or central: the March weather in Germany is expected to show its mild side.

“In short: relatively little will happen in terms of weather in the next ten to 14 days,” summarized Dominik Jung on Friday (February 23rd) with a view to the ensemble forecast.

“March-winter is apparently not an issue at all, at least until March 9th,” he explained.

According to the German Weather Service (DWD), it will also be “unstable and mild, with no major weather risks.”

This is what is in the 10-day weather forecast, which predicts events until March 3rd.

So the winter boots can stay in the closet for now.

Snow doesn't seem to be falling at first.

A look at the temperatures also suggests this.

“Forecast has been corrected” – temperatures in March are expected to be milder than expected

In his video, expert Jung also focused on the temperature deviations for March.

“A few days ago everything was white,” he said, referring to the corresponding weather map.

“So it should have been a completely normal March,” he explained the meaning of the white color.

Now Germany has turned orange.

The result: The third month of the year is expected to be milder than usual.

“So, the forecast has been revised upwards slightly.

“This month could land 0.5 to one degree above the climate average for the years 1991 to 2020,” explained Jung.

A cool March is not in sight.

The temperatures in March – it really gets that mild

As mild as the weather is in February, it is expected to continue in March.

According to meteorologist Jung, “temperatures are usually around ten degrees” in northern Germany.

There are no big outliers.

In the west and south, the ensemble forecast shows something similar.

“And the East doesn’t have any big outliers either up or down,” he said.

The weather in Austria is different.

Experts there recently warned of a “fat load” of fresh snow.
