ZDF dream ship actor Horst Naumann is dead. He “simply slept through it,” explained his wife.
Munich – The television world is mourning the loss of a beloved star of the ZDF “Dream Ship” series.
Horst Naumann died at the age of 98.
The actor became known to a wide audience as the doctor in the “Dream Ship” series.
But he also shaped television in series such as “The Black Forest Clinic” or in post-war cinema.

His wife Linn Naumann explained to the
Bild newspaper
: “My husband fell asleep peacefully at home.
We had breakfast together in bed that morning and then he slept there for a bit, like he always did.
At some point he stopped breathing - I was there.
He just fell asleep.” She continued: “He wasn’t sick, he just died of old age.” She already misses him.
Naumann died on February 19th.

Horst Naumann was active in front of and behind the camera
In addition to numerous roles in front of the camera, Naumann also worked behind the camera as a voice actor.
He lent his voice to stars such as Franco Nero, Christopher Plummer, Pierre Brice, Terence Stamp, Sean Connery and the villain Julian Glover in “James Bond 007: On a Deadly Mission”.

In 1983, Horst Naumann appeared for the first time in the ZDF “Dream Ship” series in his role as the ship’s doctor Dr.
Horst Schröder up.
At the same time, he was also allowed to wear the doctor's coat in another role: as Dr.
He was seen in the “Black Forest Clinic” in Rome.
It is one of the most successful German series of the 1980s.

Naumann remained the “dream ship” until 2010.
He was seen on three cruise ships under two captains in a total of 55 episodes.
In 2020 he said
in
Stern about his farewell: “It was a bit of an expulsion, for reasons of age.
And when I found out who my successor was, he was already filming.
But that was years ago now..."
Florian Silbereisen says goodbye
The current “dream ship” captain Florian Silbereisen was also deeply moved.
He explained to the
Bild newspaper
: “He was the dream ship doctor who apparently really had medical powers: thanks to his calming and confident charisma, you could actually relax in front of the screen when he was on board!
In this way he has had a decisive influence on the dream ship.
Now he’s watching over us from above.”
