A week of action last year brought ten new junior staff to the Schlehdorf fire department.

This and other good news was now announced at the annual meeting.

Schlehdorf – The people of Schlehdorf came up with a lot of ideas for the fire department’s long night in September last year.

A children's cinema was set up in the fire station, vehicles and a turntable ladder were shown, and a fire was simulated.

The effort was worth it: After the week of action, nine boys and one girl joined the Schlehdorf youth fire department.

District fire officer Erich Zengerle was enthusiastic about the campaign, its organization and the ten new young people: “You are the fire department of tomorrow,” he said at the general meeting of the Schlehdorf fire department.

Ten new ones is a remarkable number when you consider that 45 men are active in the Schlehdorf fire department.

Very busy during the hail storm

Commander Christian Offner reflected on the last year.

In February, the Schlehdorf fire department responded to a roof fire in the Großweiler district of Pölten.

At the end of March she was called to a traffic accident near the parking lot on Kochler Street.

A car collided with a tree there.

The driver was able to leave the vehicle independently; together with the Kochlers, the car was secured and the tree was removed.

Like all fire departments in the district, the Schlehdorfers also helped to eliminate the consequences of the hailstorm in Benediktbeuern.

Over three days, the people of Schlehdorf supported the Benediktbeuren weir with 36.5 hours in processing 39 missions.

District fire chief Benedikt Mattern said it was a personal concern of his to address the hail event again.

“I was personally affected, and it's a damn good feeling when firefighters offer to help you,” he said.

“That is not a given.

There were 1,500 missions, some with 17-hour days.

The willingness to help knew no bounds.”

Many operations in heavy snowfall

The people of Schlehdorf also had to move out due to the massive snowfall at the beginning of December.

The masses of snow had broken branches and trees had to be cut down.

In total there were 57 missions with 370 hours of use.

Road safety measures were taken five times in April, May, June and November as church parades took place.

Josef Führler thanked for the prompt traffic safety at the Veterans Day, as the police unexpectedly did not show up.

Happy about numerous donations

According to Jean von Redwitz's cash report, 2023 was a year full of donations.

Many companies got involved, and in the end the impressive sum of 7,200 euros was raised.

The firefighters would like to use this money to finance a bouncy castle that will be rented out in the area.

Alexander Offner reported that the bouncy castle is expected to be delivered in the 18th calendar week and that the trailer can also be purchased due to the high volume of donations.

“Delivery and pick-up service is included.” A table football and club clothing were also purchased for the young people.
