Dorfen - There is now a car sharing model thanks to many sponsors.
Clubs and private individuals can use it.
Dorfen – There is now a Renault van at the Volksfestplatz that every Dorfen resident with a valid driving license can use.
The whole thing works via a car sharing app.
The offer is aimed at clubs and private individuals and is ideal for excursions, holiday trips, smaller parades and as a shuttle bus for private parties.
The low price of 6.90 euros per hour or 59.90 euros per day is made possible by 26 companies from Dorfen with their advertising space on the vehicle.
The location directly at the outdoor pool, within sight of the clubs, was deliberately chosen, explained Mayor Heinz Grundner on Thursday when the nine-seater was presented.
In the future, the youngsters will be able to travel to away games together instead of being “divided into several parent taxis”.
The city boss emphasized the advantages of the vehicle also being an important contribution to the mobility transition: “Public transport cannot cover the areas.
This multifunctional bus is a cost-effective alternative.”
Grundner thanked the city councilors who approved this initiative in the Environment, Nature and Climate Committee, but above all the sponsors present for their support.
Cooperation partner Karl-Heinz Kaiser, managing director of Mikar, presented the minibus.
The nine-seater has a trailer hitch, reversing camera and side impact protection.
You can also use it to travel abroad and are protected by travel repatriation insurance and a breakdown service.
“As a user, you only have to present your driver’s license once to the city administration, then download the Mikar app – and you’re good to go,” says Kaiser.
There is no need to go through the hassle of collecting the car keys: the bus can be unlocked using the app via Bluetooth within the booked time slot.
The vehicle key is in the glove compartment.
After the trip, you park the car back at the Volksfestplatz.
The usage fee will be debited via the payment method stored.
With 30,000 users and 70 buses at 200 locations in southern Germany to date, Mikar offers a broadly networked car sharing service for rural areas.
The project in Dorfen is initially scheduled to run for four years.
Environmental officer Anita Herbst, who now has the job of parking lot attendant, was already behind the wheel of the spacious minibus.
“It practically drives itself,” was her impression after the first test drive.
The new rental car also sends a positive signal.
“You can drive together and save a lot of kilometers.
Maybe one or two people from Dorfen will now forego a second car.”
