Cycling in Geretsried should become more attractive.
A new cycle path is being planned.
Alexandra von Alvensleben, the city's mobility manager, explains the procedure.

A feasibility study for a cycle path that connects Geretsried North with the Stein district in the south was presented to the city council in November (we reported).
The building and environmental committee on Tuesday was all about planning.
68 percent of Geretsried residents use their car for everyday errands
The city's mobility manager Alexandra von Alvensleben explained that 68 percent of Geretsried residents use their car for everyday errands.
This was the result of an online survey on mobility last December.
And that despite the fact that Geretsried is “brettleben”.
What the survey also showed: Participants would use their bikes more often if the bike path network was better developed and vehicle, bike and pedestrian traffic were separated.
This is exactly what the city wants to tackle now.

According to Alvensleben, the construction of the cycle path will be affected by major construction projects, such as the expansion of the district heating network.
That doesn't necessarily have to mean something negative.
If, for example, a road has to be opened up for one measure, the other project could benefit from this.
Cycle path will be implemented over several years
The route will be divided into different sections and will be implemented gradually over several years.
The estimated construction costs are around 1.15 million euros.
The city may not have to shoulder everything alone: “We want to get the project funded,” the city’s mobility manager explained to the committee.
It could be funded up to 75 percent by the federal government’s “City and Country” special cycling program.
Ewald Kailberth (CSU) asked how long this funding would be received.
According to von Alvensleben, it is limited until 2028.
“We actually have to have everything accounted for by then.” But you could also proceed in sections, i.e. complete one area, account for it, and then move on to the next one.
“You may then have to resort to other funding.” The council would have to decide for each section individually anyway.
At the city council meeting in November, Patrik Kohlert (Geretsrieder List) spoke out in favor of including the area around the Tyczka company in the planning and not, as shown at the time, leaving it out for the time being.
He asked whether the area would now be taken into account in the current planning.
This was confirmed by Alvensleben.

The council unanimously decided to commission the administration with the basic investigation and preliminary planning.
