A big bang at the Erding energy vision (EVE): Wartenberg mayor Christian Pröbst resigns as EVE managing director - and criticizes the district administrator.

Erding/Wartenberg – Christian Pröbst can claim to have at least attempted to push the energy transition more than any other of his 25 mayoral colleagues in Erdinger Land.

But as is well known, the wind turbine plans, which strongly bore the hallmarks of Wartenberg's mayor, failed in Auerbach due to the will of the citizens.

Pröbst is now pulling the ripcord nationwide and is stepping down as managing director of Energievision Erding (EVE) after three and a half years.

It was intended to advance the energy transition in the district - with very modest success so far.

The 47-year-old combines his withdrawal with sharp criticism of district administrator and EVE chairman Martin Bayerstorfer.

Spicy: Both are CSU members; two years ago Pröbst asked Bayerstorfer to share his power.

Now the relationship is likely to be broken.

The straw that broke the camel's back for Pröbst and thus led to his resignation from EVE was probably a comment in this newspaper a week ago in which he was accused of a lack of commitment in the communities.

In a statement to the editorial team, Pröbst explains: “I have come to the decision to draw a line in the sand.

I asked myself over and over again: Why am I doing this?

And I actually couldn't find a positive point that would encourage me to continue putting my energy into this." He emphasizes that initially the EVE management was "a matter of the heart for him, as I was responsible for the Wartenberg market as well as for the energy transition Erding district wanted to achieve a change”.

In his private life, he has had a large PV system for almost 20 years and tries to “pay attention to the energy transition in every possible way: groundwater heat pump, air-water heat pump, water-powered wood stove – all great things.”

His community is also on the right track, said Pröbst, referring to the PV system on the sewage treatment plant, three public electric charging stations and a local heating network that is currently being planned.

Citizens are being intensively encouraged to set up PV systems.

There is also a potential register in Wartenberg.

However, he criticizes the energy transition in the district, despite all the efforts of the EVE management.

A large open-space PV system at the Isen landfill failed because, according to Pröbst, Bayerstorfer was not prepared to provide appropriate compensation area.

This was also decided in the district council.

A similar facility at Gut Hirschau has also failed so far at Bayerstorfer and the municipality of Eitting, even privileged because it is close to the motorway.

But Pröbst still sees opportunities here.

In this context, he finds it regrettable that the district and municipalities do not make enough use of the opportunities offered by solar potential registers or refuse to do so.

He, on the other hand, could have “given cities, markets and communities a contact who would create an open space cadastre for them free of charge”.

With his wind turbine in Auerbach, the Wartenberg town hall boss would have “wanted more support, both from the neighboring mayors, who were only concerned instead of supporters, even though they are members of the EVE, and from the EVE chairman,” i.e. Bayerstorfer.

He also prohibited him from informing the Isental Citizens' Energy Cooperative of the results of an examination by EVE and the district administration regarding possible wind turbine locations.

According to Pröbst, the civic engagement seen here is “gratifying”.

He identified two wind turbine locations in the east of the city of Erding, but received rejections from the property owners.

Fortunately, the cooperation with the Bavarian Energy Alliance attempted to strengthen the EVE.

Unfortunately, in meetings, including in Lengdorf, “things were said that were damaging to the EVE.”

There are obviously widespread doubts about the alliance.

Pröbst accuses those politically responsible in the district and the municipalities of lacking “the will or the courage”.

The EVE has not made any significant progress since 2012.

He has already offered Bayerstorfer his resignation twice.

Now he is doing it “since my work and my commitment are repeatedly blocked or not supported”.

He no longer sees an alternative to this.

He also rejects the accusation that he did not advertise enough on the committees.

EVE always followed invitations.

Pröbst emphasizes that he submitted his notice of termination on Wednesday of this week.
