2024-02-24T15:12:52.206Z

Highlights: The municipality of Haar wants to increase the entrance fees for the outdoor pool. The price for a single ticket for adults, for example, should be increased from 4.50 to 6 euros. 60 cents saved for the bather, but correspondingly less income for the community. The operating cost deficit for all three pools was around 2.4 million euros in 2021 and around 1.9 million in 2022. In order not to spoil the fun of swimming, especially for lower-income families, a majority now wanted to leave it at a maximum of 20 percent.

The municipality of Haar wants to increase the entrance fees for the outdoor pool.

How high is not yet clear.

The municipality's tense financial situation is to blame for the price increase.

Haar – Entry to the Haar outdoor pool is becoming more expensive.

The price for a single ticket for adults, for example, should be increased from 4.50 to 6 euros, according to the administration's concept;

an increase of 33 percent.

What the Greens and SPD still want to mitigate.

Mike Seckinger (Greens) suggested in the main committee that prices should not be increased by more than 20 percent in any card category.

For adults, this would mean an increase in the price of the ticket from currently 4.50 to 5.40 euros.

60 cents saved for the bather, but correspondingly less income for the community.

Thomas Reichel (CSU) sees this critically.

“We would say hurray to that, but we must not forget the budget situation,” he warned on behalf of his group.

The community's financial situation is very tense, savings are being made everywhere, but at the same time fees are being increased, and now we've reached the pools.

No more than 20 percent

Nevertheless, in the main committee, in addition to the SPD, CSU local councilors also voted for the Green Party's proposal, and so with a vote of 11:5, a clear recommendation to the local council was made not to add more than 20 percent to any ticket category.

Although Mayor Andreas Bukowski (CSU) had countered the thwarters of austerity: “I would agree with you all if we could make full use of it.” But the municipality cannot, as trade taxes have collapsed massively.

And the Greens and SPD would not only try to save less on this budget item.

But that doesn't work if you also oppose land sealing and commercial settlement, said Bukowski.

The money has to come from somewhere.

On May 1, 2021, Haar increased the admission prices for the outdoor pool and the Konradbad and Jagdfeldbad school pools for the last time.

Personnel and material costs have continued to rise since then.

The operating cost deficit for all three pools was around 2.4 million euros in 2021 and around 1.9 million in 2022.

The administration looked at the entry prices of other pools and suggested a fee increase of 9 to 33 percent in the various categories.

In order not to spoil the fun of swimming, especially for lower-income families, a majority now wanted to leave it at a maximum of 20 percent.

The overall picture also includes the fact that children up to the age of six don't have to pay any admission and the family ticket is only 12 percent more expensive, from 12.50 to 14 euros.

The local council has the final say.
