This surprises many: Feneberg is withdrawing from Erding and handing over both branches to Edeka.

The retail giant also takes on the employees.

Erding - Feneberg's days in Erding are apparently numbered: According to information from our newspaper, the supermarket chain from the Allgäu is handing over its two branches in the Erding-West industrial area and on the Lange Zeile to the retail giant Edeka in April.

This means that the two businesses will then operate under a new name, but will remain the same.

This will please the employees in both branches, who will reportedly be taken over.

It was also through them that the first customers found out about the changes.

Some of them reacted with disappointment on social networks.

Because what will change: In the future there will no longer be any “VonHier” organic products from Feneberg.

The same apparently applies to the in-house butcher shop and bakery.

This fresh product was particularly popular with customers.

Feneberg made a name for itself in Erding not only through this range.

The company also supported many local clubs and social associations through sponsorship.

This is also why many people regret the withdrawal.

The branch in Erding-West was opened in 2009, followed in 2017 by a smaller shop in the old town.

At that time it was a coup for Mayor Max Gotz, who was able to win Feneberg as a tenant.

It is said that both businesses were quite profitable.

The Feneberg headquarters in Kempten was not ready to comment by press time.

The Allgäu family business, which says it operates around 80 branches - from Erding to Konstanz and from Garmisch to Ulm - has been working with Edeka for years.

The trading giant has always been Feneberg's wholesaler.
