Firefighters and the Guatemalan Army have been working since Thursday to extinguish the fire that started on Wednesday, February 21 on the slopes of the Agua Volcano.
The authorities have not reported deaths, nor have they specified the magnitude of the damage and reported that they are in the “control and liquidation phase, prevention to avoid loss of life and material resources.”
The Agua Volcano is an inactive volcano located in Sacatepéquez, just over six kilometers from the colonial city of Antigua Guatemala, one of the main tourist sites in the Central American country.
