Rushing towards March 21st, Day of Remembrance and Commitment in memory of the innocent victims of the mafia which will take place in Rome.

This morning called by Libera, together with the sports promotion partners of its network (ACSI, CSI, UISP, USACLI) and a representation of the Special Olympics athletes, students, ordinary citizens, children, parents, minors of the restorative justice of the national project "Amunì, families of the victims innocent people from the mafias met at the Nando Martellini Stadium in Rome for a lap of track, walking or running, in memory of the innocent victims of the mafias to be done with the heart, or rather... with the core. Running with a "particular" bib where instead on the race number was the name and surname of an innocent victim of the mafia.

"Running wearing a bib with the names and surnames of the women and men killed by the mafia - comments Lucilla Andreucci, Libera's presidential office - represents an opportunity for remembrance, a testimony and a concrete sign of gratitude towards the over 1000 innocent victims of the mafia, ordinary citizens, magistrates, journalists, members of the police force, priests, entrepreneurs, trade unionists, boys and girls, political exponents and administrators who died in the hands of the mafia only because, with rigor, they did their duty.

This morning those names were back "on track" on the chest and in the legs of citizens, young people and children to walk through a living memory, so as not to forget that behind every name, there is a life to remember, a story to tell, a hope to cultivate. "The initiative is part of the 100 steps towards March 21st, the Day of Remembrance and Commitment in memory of the innocent victims of the mafia, promoted by Libera, which will take place in Rome with a procession that will start from Piazza Esquilino, cross the streets of the capital and end at the Circus Maximus where the names of the over 1000 innocent victims of the mafia will be read.
