"Between now and 2030, the way in which the electricity system is managed will change radically, also as a consequence of the growth of energy production plants. In this sense, Terna will continue to work for the development of the three cornerstones of the energy transition: networks, renewables and storage".
Thus the CEO of Terna Giuseppina Di Foggia in a talk dedicated to energy during an event of the Political School of the League.
"We are observing an important acceleration in the increase in new installed renewable capacity, approximately 6 Gw in 2023 and, in parallel - added Di Foggia - the collapse of coal-fired energy production (-85% compared to January 2023). The transition is the only concrete opportunity to increase the country's energy independence, improve the adequacy and security of the system, also through increasingly digitalized management, and reduce tensions on energy prices".
"I am very satisfied with these first months at the helm of Terna: we have recently obtained the green light from Mase for two strategic infrastructure works for the country - the manager recalled - the western branch of the Tyrrhenian Link which will connect Sicily and Sardinia, and the Adriatic Link, the submarine cable between Abruzzo and Marche. In less than a month we will present our industrial plan, it will be based on the twin transition: you cannot have an energy transition without a digital evolution.
This means, in addition to investments in the network, also a change of culture and approach ", concluded Di Foggia.
