A Southern California socialite was found guilty Friday of murder and other charges for running over two brothers in a crosswalk more than three years ago.

According to authorities, Rebecca Grossman, wife of a prominent Los Angeles burn doctor, killed

11-year-old Mark Iskander and his 8-year-old brother Jacob

with her car while speeding behind a car driven by her then-lover Scott Erickson, former pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The jury found Grossman guilty on all charges: two felony counts of second-degree murder and reckless manslaughter, and one felony count of hit and run resulting in death.

Grossman faces a sentence of 34 years to life in prison.

The accident

occurred on the afternoon of September 29, 2020

, in Westlake Village, a city on the western edge of Los Angeles County.

Grossman was not charged with being under the influence, but former baseball player Royce Clayton testified that he had met her and Erickson at a nearby restaurant where Erickson had two margaritas and Grossman had one, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Prosecutors presented evidence that the data recorder of Grossman's white Mercedes showed that the woman had been driving as fast as 81 mph (130 km/h) and had hit the brakes, slowing her speed to 73 mph (117 km/h). km/h), less than two seconds before the collision, which caused the airbags to deploy.
