The dispute over potential wind turbines left scorched earth in Buch am Buchrain around ten years ago.

Will the discussions now repeat themselves?

Buch am Buchrain - At the Buch local council meeting, the fact was discussed that the southern district community is one of the 22 priority areas that are identified as part of the regional planning association's planning.

The mayor believes it is unlikely that objections from the community will have an impact on the Buch areas.

Buch and the Erding district are part of the wind power regional plan 14 for the Munich region.

The priority area number 21 is 321 hectares in size and has a forest content of 98 percent.

Isen, Lengdorf, Pastetten and Wörth are also mentioned as affected communities, but most of the potential areas are in the immediate vicinity of the Buch municipal area.

Several possible locations are near the A94, another large area towards Mitterbuch.

The topic was addressed at the meeting by Martin Kern (SPD).

Mayor Ferdinand Geisberger (CSU) took the opportunity to once again provide information about Regional Plan 14 and that the more than 20 cluster areas only list locations that tend to be suitable for wind turbines according to the wind atlas.

We now have to wait for the interpretation and participation process to be able to comment on the new plans.

Kern advocated that the community should, in due course, think about “what our attitude as a local council is to this.”

Geisberger agreed that the issue would be put on a meeting agenda “and we would then comment on it.”

However, the mayor immediately dampened expectations that objections from the community would be enough to ensure that a large part of the Buch area would be removed from the plan.

“We won’t have any influence on that,” assumed Geisberger, referring to the new legal starting point.

In any case, the plans for the new drinking water protection area should be communicated in the municipal statement, as mentioned by Kern, said Geisberger.

Matthias Steutzger (non-party) is opposed to the designation of the forest area towards Mitterbuch near the Müllner Bründl healing water spring, and he contradicted the supposed profitability statements from the wind atlas.

"That's wrong, it doesn't make sense to build wind turbines there." As an expert at TÜV, Steutzger is an expert and works "in the field of wind energy myself - but I don't want to see any there."

This forest is the “last really beautiful local recreation area” in the area that will be destroyed by the facilities.

Robert Ulzhöfer (SPD) suggested that citizens be involved in the further process and that their opinions be taken into account.

They have already shown in the past that they are not enthusiastic about wind power plans.

The resistance to the 16 possible locations in the municipality was so great at the time that a citizens' initiative was launched.
