Martin Gruber, played by Hans Sigl (54), has a new love in the 17th season: Karin Bachmeier, played by Hilde Dalik (45).
In one of the new episodes, viewers noticed that the character of Karin was wearing a hearing aid.
There is a specific reason for this that attentive fans already know.

The third episode of season 17 of “Der Bergdoktor”, entitled “Guilt”, was broadcast on ZDF on Thursday, January 25th.
In it, Dr.
Martin Gruber hardly has any time for his new girlfriend Karin, but he does see her briefly between the doors and doors.
The audience noticed that Karin was wearing a hearing aid.
Fans online are now wondering why this is so.
“Did I see that correctly?
Martin’s new one has a hearing aid?” wonders a user under a picture on the show’s Instagram channel.
The audience doesn't mind the hearing aid, but they are certainly curious as to why it was included in the show.

Attentive fans know why “Bergdoktor” Karin wears a hearing aid, because it was already explained in the first episode of the new season.
In an argument with her daughter Josie, played by Lieselotte Voß (22), Karin reveals that she was beaten by her alcoholic father when she was a child, which led to a hospital stay of several weeks and hearing damage.
Her hearing never recovered, which is why she continues to rely on hearing aids even in adulthood.

In episode one, Karin's past with her father leads to an argument with her daughter because she wants to sell her family's old farm, where Josie lives.
It remains to be seen whether the hearing aid and Karin's difficult childhood will be the subject of “The Mountain Doctor” more often.
The episodes are broadcast weekly on ZDF every Thursday at 8:15 p.m.
