According to a Russian analyst, Ukraine is set to surrender in the war.

However, Ukrainian President Zelenskyj sees it completely differently.

Moscow – Republicans in the US Congress have been blocking aid to Ukraine worth around $60 billion for weeks.

The withdrawal of the Ukrainian army from the heavily contested city of Avdiivka shows how urgently needed aid is.

A Russian analyst spoke on Russian state television about the Ukrainian situation and sees the lack of US support as an opportunity for Russia to win the Ukraine war.

Russia's “Opportunity”: Analyst calls for Ukraine to surrender

Alexei Naumov of the Russian International Affairs Council made this statement during a discussion on a political show broadcast on the Kremlin-run HTB channel.

Russian Media Monitor shared the excerpt from the program with an English subtitle on YouTube on Friday (February 23).

Naumov made it clear during the talk show that Russia should take advantage of Ukraine's situation by pressuring Kiev to surrender.

“We should understand that this is the best situation for the Russian army since the start of the special military operation,” Naumov said.

Russia has been talking about a “special military operation” in Ukraine since its war of aggression began two years ago.

The situation is particularly good for Russia as Ukraine is withdrawing and is running out of money, the analyst explained.

“There are problems with mobilization.

So how is this time window used?

“What are Russia’s tactics?” he asked.

Russia “ready for a solution” – war against NATO?

"I think it's like this: At the same time as our military successes, we keep hearing our president say, 'We are ready for a solution to the conflict.'

At the moment it's about making it clear to the Ukrainians that resistance is pointless and to hand over everything peacefully," said Naumov.

He also noted that Avdiivka is far from Washington.

When asked by the show's moderator whether Russia wanted to go there, Naumov replied that, according to statements from the leadership, Russia was waging an indirect war against NATO in Ukraine.

Ukraine “can only be taken by force” – Zelensky: “We will win”

Russian political scientist Gevorg Mirzayan, who was also a guest on the show, contradicted the analyst.

He believes that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky would not surrender peacefully.

“It can only be taken by force,” Mirzayan said.

On February 24, 2024, Ukraine will have been at war for exactly two years.

Even though Russia has made progress by taking Avdiivka, Zelensky has no doubt that Ukraine will win the war.

“We will win,” he said on Saturday at a commemoration of the second anniversary of the war near Kiev.
