The faces behind “'51 by Georg”: Carolin and Markus Demas.
The name of the restaurant comes from her great-grandfather Georg Demas, who bought the property on the main street in 1951.

The siblings Markus and Carolin Demas are opening a new restaurant in a former supermarket in Unterhaching: the “'51 by Georg”.
Unterhaching
– A glass of wine in a velvet armchair by the fireplace, a cocktail at the bar, a Black Angus steak in the winter garden or a company party in the conference room: the recently opened restaurant “'51 by Georg” in Unterhaching has something for almost every occasion offer.
Anyone who has walked or driven along the main street in the evenings in the past few weeks will have immediately noticed the well-lit restaurant.
Because the “'51 by Georg” is something very special with its stylish and high-quality furnishings and the unusual and high-quality cuisine that you would expect to find in the center of Munich and not in the suburbs.
“We wanted to open a restaurant that doesn’t exist in town yet,” says Markus Demas, who owns the new restaurant together with his sister Carolin.
Supermarket converted into a restaurant in 1.5 years
Fir green and beige velvet chairs, a round fireplace with electric windows, a mirrored bar, wooden floors and various gold accents: there is nothing left to remind you of the supermarket that was located in the rooms until 2022.
The siblings spent a year and a half renovating the area.
The Hotel Demas Garni next door, which the couple's mother runs, has also been extensively renovated and renovated.
The breakfast room is now part of the “’51 by Georg”.
But non-hotel guests can also book the buffet for 19 euros per person.
“It is important to us to emphasize that we are not a hotel restaurant,” says Carolin Demas (34).
“These are two separate businesses; anyone can come to our restaurant and to the bar.”
High-quality and stylish furnishings run through the entire restaurant.

Great-grandfather’s dream fulfilled
By opening the restaurant, the siblings fulfilled their great-grandfather Georg Demas' dream.
In 1951 - hence the name of the restaurant - he acquired the property, which was still used as a gravel pit at the time.
Even back then, his vision was a hotel and a restaurant - which was now realized by his descendants around 70 years later.
Maybe that's exactly why the two of them put so much heart and soul into the implementation.
Black Angus steak for 39 euros
Markus and Carolin Demas developed the menu together with their chef.
“Steak and fish,” is how the 43-year-old describes it.
A lot of emphasis is placed on regionality at “’51 by Georg”.
A fish soup is available for 14 euros, a Black Angus fillet steak for 39 euros, a lobster roll for 39 euros and a tagliolini with black truffle for 21 euros.
“The guests come from Unterhaching and the neighboring communities.
Some from Munich and recently someone from Holzkirchen was there,” says Markus Demas.

Positive feedback so far
The two receive consistently positive feedback on social media, on review websites and also in the pub or on the street.
“We are very happy about this and it is confirmation of our work and that of the entire team,” says Carolin Demas.
The siblings employ 15 people.
“We have a great core, but we can always use more staff.”
Cocktails and wine in the lounge
If you just want to come to “'51 by Georg” for a glass of wine or a cocktail, you can make yourself comfortable in the armchairs in the lounge area.
“We always have guests who come to us before or after an event in neighboring Kubiz.” From March there will also be a room for meetings, conferences, seminars or workshops and weddings, birthdays or bachelor parties can also be celebrated in the restaurant.
The next project: “We also want to open at lunchtime, but that’s all still in the planning stages,” says Markus Demas.
