Bolsonaro, who is considered conservative and capitalist in his views, served as president of Brazil between 2019-2022, his relations with Israel were good and he even received the Yedi Zion award.
Bolsonaro lost the last election to the incumbent president, Lula da Silva, who is considered a socialist.
About a week ago, Lula accused Israel of genocide of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and compared the IDF's activities in the Gaza Strip to the Nazi atrocities in the Holocaust. "This is not war, this is genocide," said the Brazilian president during an official visit to the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa. "This is not war of soldiers against soldiers, but fighting of a trained corps against women and children.
This thing happened in the past: when Hitler decided to murder the Jews."
