Bülent Ceylan sings his hit “Santa Maria” in Roland Kaiser’s anniversary show – but as a hard rock version.

Not all ZDF viewers are enthusiastic about this.

Offenburg - When Roland Kaiser (71) celebrates his stage anniversary, then the who's who of German hits will of course celebrate with him.

Among others, Beatrice Egli (35), Melissa Naschenweng (33), Kerstin Ott (42) and Bülent Ceylan (48) are on stage.

The latter surprises with a hard rock version of “Santa Maria”.

The slightly different version of the Kaiser classic is immediately hotly discussed online.

For Roland Kaiser's anniversary show, ZDF promised "new live arrangements and exclusive duets" in a press release - and that's exactly what TV viewers got.

Bülent Ceylan and Roland Kaiser sang what was probably the most unusual duet of the evening.

The two sang the Kaiser classic “Santa Maria” together, although not in the Schunkel Schlager version, but in the Wacken version.

Bülent Ceylan bellowed the chorus of “Santa Maria” in a deep voice and jumped across the stage headbanging.

The dignified ZDF audience probably didn't expect that and Roland Kaiser probably didn't know what to think of the hard rock version of his hit either.

During the first chorus he covers his left ear.

“Hold on, he’s starting again,” he warns his audience before Bülent Ceylan takes over again.

After the performance, Roland Kaiser described the performance as “anarchy”.

The fans are also unsure how they should find the new version of “Santa Maria”.

Roland Kaiser is not only a pop star, but also a husband, father and grandfather.

In his anniversary show, all of Roland Kaiser's children appear together for the first time.

The hard rock version of the Roland Kaiser hit is being hotly debated online.

“Why the hell?” asks a TV viewer on X (formerly Twitter).

“The beautiful song is so destroyed,” says another fan. A third fan is of the opinion that Roland Kaiser should have sang “Santa Maria” alone.

This fan remains diplomatic and says: “Well, if Roland has fun with it, that’s good.”

But, who would have thought it, Bülent Ceylan's new interpretation is also well received.

“Weird combination of 'Santa Maria', but I kind of like it,” writes this fan. Another TV viewer writes: “Highlight so far.”

“I would like to hear this version at the Kaiser concert in the summer,” said a third user.
