According to the police, the young man from the Starnberg district drove his BMW at high speed into a winter service vehicle belonging to Autobahnplus GmbH for unknown reasons.

At around 2.30 a.m. the 20-year-old was traveling on the A8 towards Munich.

At Geiselbullach he crashed into the rear of the gritting vehicle that was in the process of applying liquid salt to the highway, as the Geiselbullach fire department announced.

Immediately after the serious impact, his car began to burn.

According to the fire department, courageous first aiders who observed the accident recognized the seriousness of the situation and freed the person from this acutely life-threatening situation.

They were supported by a crew of a patrol vehicle from the FFB traffic police station who happened to be in the immediate vicinity.

Since the vehicle made an automatic emergency call, a so-called e-call, during the accident, the ILS FFB was able to alert rescue service units and the Geiselbullach and Feldgeding fire departments very quickly.

The exact injuries are not yet known.

The driver of the gritting vehicle remained uninjured.

When the fire department arrived, the vehicle was already fully engulfed in flames.

The fire brigades fought the fire together and completely closed the BAB in the direction of Munich.

In the course of recording the accident, the Fürstenfeldbruck traffic police ask, in particular the previously unknown first responders, as well as uninvolved eyewitnesses who were able to observe the accident, to contact the traffic police department on 0 89/89 11 80.
