Spectacular to see: the burning Seat on the B318.
Because of the total closure, a long backlog quickly formed in both directions.

Only a charred skeleton remains of a Seat Ateca that was built just two months ago.
The virtually brand new vehicle fell victim to the flames on the B 318 near Lochham.
Lochham
- As the Holzkirchen motorway police station reports, on Sunday, February 25th, around 2:30 p.m., several callers reported a burning car on the B 318 just before Lochham to the operations center of the Upper Bavaria South police headquarters.
The Warngau fire department immediately set off to the scene of the fire with three fire engines, a command vehicle with a crew of around 20 people and a highway police patrol.

When they got there, the Seat was already fully engulfed in flames.
The 61-year-old driver from Holzkirchen and his 64-year-old passenger from Otterfing were able to leave the “still quite young” vehicle in time and uninjured, the police said.
Thanks to the rapid intervention of the fire department, they quickly brought the flames under control and regulated traffic.
Nevertheless, there wasn't much left of the Seat.
Road damaged due to heat development
Employees from the Hausham road maintenance department were also on site to assess the fire site.
They examined the asphalt surface that had been damaged by the high heat and supported the fire department in securing the scene of the accident.
Since gasoline had also leaked, the employees also examined the soil next to the road.
The B 318 had to be completely closed while a towing company from Gmund was extinguishing the fire and recovering the burnt-out wreck.
According to the police, due to the heavy excursion traffic in the direction of Holzkirchen, a backlog of approximately two kilometers was created.

When it comes to the cause of the fire, investigators are currently assuming a technical defect.
The total damage is around 30,000 euros.
It wasn't until around 5:15 p.m. that the federal highway was fully passable again in both directions.
