Construction work on the inclined elevator, which will take those interested from Freisinger Bahnhofstrasse to the Domberg from May, is in full swing.

In the future it should only take a minute to get from Bahnhofstrasse to Freisinger Domberg.
This is made possible by a new inclined elevator.

– Work on the inclined elevator up to Domberg is in full swing.
By May, when the state exhibition “Tassilo, Korbinian and the Bear” opens in the Diocesan Museum, the project, which costs almost six million euros, is expected to be completed in order to transport visitors from Bahnhofstrasse up to Domberg in just one minute.
It was recognized and decided in various consultations and meetings that it is the ideal location for this inclined elevator: the route is extremely short, the least amount of structural intervention is required in the existing building, and the proximity to the train station and the parking garage at Wörth make the elevator very attractive for visitors to the Domberg.
The entrance building is also attractive, as it is not just a technical building but should be architecturally appealing.
It is being realized as a gable house, which houses the technology and serves as a place for the waiting people to stay, but which also matches the existing wall in both color and structure thanks to the use of so-called stamped concrete.
View downwards through sliding glass door
The mountain station is designed as a portal, with a sliding glass door allowing a view downwards.
However, five trees that are protected according to the city green ordinance were in the way of the rail.
These five trees on the southern side of the mountain, which were no longer quite fit, have already been felled.
Replacement plantings will be provided on the south terrace of the museum and south of the residence.
In addition, an emergency staircase must be built parallel to the rail.
But it also serves a purpose, as the pipes that will bring local heat to the Domberg in the future were hidden underneath it.
The archdiocese bears the total costs of 5.8 million euros, while the annual maintenance - which is around 110,000 euros - is the responsibility of the city.
