A fire broke out in an asylum seekers accommodation in Nördlingen.

The halls have to be evacuated; they are no longer habitable.

Nördlingen – Four people were injured in a fire in an asylum seekers accommodation late on Sunday afternoon (February 25th).

The affected facility, two exhibition halls on Nürnberger Strasse used to accommodate asylum seekers, was severely affected by the fire.

According to initial assessments, they are no longer habitable and will be torn down due to the risk of collapse.

A large number of firefighters, rescue services and police were on site to fight the fire and prevent it from spreading further.

The fire department responded to the operation around 5 p.m. after several emergency calls were received at the control center.

The 50 residents of the accommodation were surprised by the fire and had to leave the building quickly.

They were bussed to other accommodation to provide them with temporary shelter.
