Munich is celebrating: Not just because the Oktoberfest and the European Championships are taking place.

The state capital is also host to numerous top-class artists.

Munich - After the cancellation of the Central Agricultural Festival (ZLF), work in the economic department is in full swing.

Applications for the Oide Wiesn that is now taking place are still being accepted until February 29th.

“There is no shortage of applicants,” reveals Wiesn boss Clemens Baumgärtner in an interview with our editorial team.

“We’re definitely filling up Vienna.” But the now bigger Oktoberfest isn’t the only reason to celebrate.

“This year will be a mega year for Munich,” says Baumgärtner.

Economics officer Clemens Baumgärtner: “We have a lot of international stars this year”

“We will have a large number of international stars in Munich this year: Taylor Swift, Coldplay, AC/DC, Adele.” The concert series with the British pop star in particular will “have a big impact on Munich,” says Baumgärtner.

“Adele only plays in Munich.

The focus is not only on the artist, but also on the venue.” Baumgärtner wants to announce at a press conference this Monday how high the actual added value from the concert series will be this year.

Who has applied for the Oktoberfest this year and who will be accepted will only become public after the application process.

But there is already some news: construction will probably start two weeks earlier this year.

“We still have to discuss this internally,” says Baumgärtner.

“I want to comply with the construction companies’ wishes so that everything can be completed on time.” The first work would therefore begin at the beginning of July this year.

Future of the Central Agricultural Festival - Baumgärtner believes it will be held again in 2028

Whether the ZLF will ever be rebuilt - Baumgärtner believes so.

“I am a big friend of the ZLF.” As reported, this had to be canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic and this year due to a lack of exhibitors.

Baumgärtner says that the decision for a ZLF 2028 must be made by the farmers' association - but they should think about the concept.

“What bothers me is the high entrance fee of 15 euros.” For comparison: the Oide Wiesn charges four euros.

And the city is ultimately giving the site away for free for the ZLF.
